Working fluids for cold production

No less than three generations of synthetic fluids have been used in the field of refrigeration since its birth (CFC, HCFC, HFC). Due to environmental constraints (reduction of greenhouse gas emissions), European legislation (Fgaz) has led to the development of a fourth generation low GWP (HFO). The durability of these fluids is certainly not assured. Because of this, it is important today to consider other alternatives to their use. Actions are already launched to characterize new mixtures presented last March, at the initiative of C. Coquelet. The ambition of this day is to extend to the entire community SFT-SFGP-GDR TMP and AFF-IIF, to complete the state of play in the field of characterization of working fluids. Either those used in thermodynamic generators but also those used in engines. The characteristics sought are those relating to the thermodynamic properties (phase diagram, mixing enthalpies, speed of sound, etc.) and of transport (viscosity, conductivity, etc.) as well as the heat transfer and mass properties required by the engineer during the changes. phase or sorption phenomena or compatibilities with oils. Moreover, it is essential to bind the working fluid to the type of machines or systems studied. The joint consideration of both aspects is one of the most important issues of this day.
